Sofie van Schadewijk lovingly illustrates highly detailed representations full of nature and a touch of magic.

Working by hand brings her infinite pleasure, whether it is a pen drawing in colour or a woodcut print in black and white. This love and attention is reflected in her illustrations.

Sofie illustrates for:

Sofie works with precision and craftsmanship on woodcuts and drawings full of textures, dots, lines and tiny details. In her small studio, you can smell the scent of linseed oil and printing ink, hear the sound of a razor-sharp gouge cutting through wood fibres and the spinning big wheel of the etching press.

Her work is an interplay of textures and details in which there is much to discover. A little house high up in a tree, a squirrel hanging garlands or a friendly ghost rising from a chimney - nothing is too crazy!
