I’ve been drawing since I was a little girl, and I was always sure I would be doing a creative job of some sort in the future. I ended up studying Graphic Design at the ArtEZ Academy of Arts in Arnhem. During that time I had very little time to draw, it wasn’t a part of the education either. After a few years I realised I really missed drawing, creating things with my hands. So I decided to just start again and get busy; drawing, painting, learning how to screen print on different materials, and so on.
Subjects that often make an appearance in my work are nature, human figures, landscapes, sun & moon, and hair… lots of hair. You could describe my work as being full of details and textures. My relief prints are mainly black and white with a very small dash of color here and there, while with my drawings and paintings, I try to play with color and explore its possibilities.
In 2023, I was one of the Dutch winners of the Picture This! illustration contest, organized by Dutch publisher Lemniscaat. Winning took me one step closer to fulfilling my dream: making a children's picture book.
