Hi! My name is Sofie and I'm an illustrator and printmaker.

I live in Waalre (near Eindhoven, the Netherlands) with my partner, our two daughters and Zappa the cat. Before working as an illustrator, I studied Graphic Design at ArtEZ art academy in Arnhem.

I lovingly create highly detailed representations full of nature and a touch of magic. Working by hand brings me infinite pleasure, whether it is a pen drawing in colour or a woodcut print in black and white. This love and attention is reflected in my work.

In 2021 I followed the Picturebook Masterclass by illustrator and author Mark Janssen, where I learned how to write and illustrate a children's picturebook. In 2023 I won the illustration contest Picture This! by publisher Lemniscaat. My work was published in the competition catalogue and exhibited at the Bologna Children's Bookfair in April 2024.

I work with precision and craftsmanship on woodcuts and drawings full of textures, dots, playful lines and intricate details. Each illustration is an interplay of these elements, in which there is much to discover. A little house high up in a tree, a squirrel hanging garlands or a friendly ghost rising from a chimney - nothing is too crazy!
